THE ROUTINE brings sunscreen awareness to Emirates HQ!
THE ROUTINE recently conducted a pop at Emirates HQ in the Atrium Boutique to spread awareness of UVA and sunscreen in general for your day to day life!
Most people see sunscreen as a product for the beach. It's not.
This common misconception comes with a simple question that most people ask, and indeed, we were asked multiple times during our pop up - "What SPF is this?".
Whilst it is an important question, it is definitely not the be all and end all to base your purchasing decision on. Here's why:
1. SPF or sun protection factor is an indicator of a formula's ability to mitigate the effects of UVB only! UVB is attributed to the rays that burn the skin. So, even if you have SPF 100, without UVA protection, your skin is still going to be damaged, but in a different way!
2. SPF 50 with a runny texture is likely not going to help you in the Middle East sun and humidity! You need a formula that holds up - such as THE ROUTINE - which has been designed for heavy water and sweat resistance. A lot of watery sunscreens need reapplication sooner, or will start to break down quicker with sweat, oil and heat. THE ROUTINE is made to withstand these issues for longer! Meaning you can go for longer.
3. UVA rays are 95% of the rays that reach the earths surface, so SPF rating doesn't matter as much during your morning commute, outdoor activities and general day to day life! You need a broad spectrum PA++++ rather sunscreen like THE ROUTINE to protect you!
4. IT'S SUNSCREEN NOT SPF! Most people use SPF as the umbrella term for sunscreen or sun protection - there is so much more to the segment! Always remember, you need broad spectrum sunscreen - not "SPF"!
We had some great conversations with the staff at Emirates HQ about all of the above and more!
Here are some shots from the pop up!
